Project context
In 2013, the JWST Space Telescope (James Webb Spatial Telescope) will replace the Hubble telescope. This mission is led by the American NASA and the European EAS. Many innovating techniques will be integrated to provide great pictures with sensitivity 100 times better than those provided by the former space telescopes.
Customer request:
CEA and NASA wish to control CCD sensors that captures the images taken by the telescope.
Both companies requested SYMETRIE's expertise for testing bench realisation. This will adjust CCD sensor position and testing lighting source simultaneously.
Project specificities:
- Two positioning systems
- High accuracy positioning 1 µm
- SONORA and ZEPHYR hexapods have been adapted
